RIP to An Era
Sam Pollock, general manager of Hab dynasties in Montreal in the '60s and '70s, died last week. He was the architect behind 9 Stanley Cups. He was also partially responsible for tons of childhood joy for a kid, ostracized in enemy territory by a gang of low-intelligence redneck, loser-supporting, snotty-nosed Leaf kids.
Here's to the bony finger of victory in your eye Southern Ontario.
Vive les tricolores!!! Vive les Canadiens!!!

I think I love the Habs even more than my kids! (unless they're also Hab fans which means I will love them more than my non-Hab-fan kids!- just still, not as much as the Habs themselves!)
However, definitely more than my wife (but you never heard that directly from me ... ;) ... but hey, you know, I've loved the Habs longer too, with higher highs and lower lows.
When you're a Habs fan the real world can't compete with hockey love.
If you're a Leaf fan though, pick the real world ... at least then you'll have a chance to score a bit.
DGI- your verbose declaration of your inability to form meaningful human relationships due to your obsesssion with sport has touched me at my core. I think my my prostate twitched...
Oh- and allow me to repeat an awesome joke I heard earlier today:
If Hamilton gets a professional hockey team, I bet Toronto will want one too.
K-Dough,
Me, myself, and especially I- we despise you!
You and all your Habitant "friends"!
It's just such a shame that more of the Maple Leaf Nation have not come to heap their scorn upon you!
Alas, we are filled with such ennui.
Oh, mon dieu!
(wait- that's French- aaaaaaaaaaarrgghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Lonely- pls take comfort in the fact that Americans are now finding Leaf ruins washed up on beaches- like so many artefacts of bygone great civilizations are commonly found in the decayed, submersed wrecks of the past.
K-Dough,
Some dude sent me an e-mail:
"Just as the Leafs not winning the Cup until we found the remains of Bill Barilko, we've now found the ring and will take the cup this season... or maybe next season."
Dude, did you even know the ring was missing?
Yeah, I thought not.
But, I'm sure you'll cling to your new talisman anyway, like the rigor mortis:
the last remaining capability of the blue and white corpse that is the Leaf Nation.
"... maybe next season."
Get real.
thanks for posting that - dork!
The Sens are lookin' might fine in their new uniforms. We came close last year (closer than, ahem...never mind) and I think these new tight uniforms are going to give the boys that extra little edge...
If nothing else, they are tighter so I will be watching.
Mr. Dough...do you get jock itch doing these sports stories?
I can't keep my hands out of my jock on a good day, so either way, I'm ready to take care of any below-belt issues that may arise!
